The Waggon & Horses bar is open from 11 am to 11 pm daily serving traditional English ales, continental lagers, tea and coffee, and all manner of other drinks. Welcome to our visitor!
Mine host Mike Shiffner is an experienced hotel manager previously retained by a large national hotel group. He claims to be the most handsome landlord in North Essex!
From the UK you may phone 07000 "WAGGON" (924466) for your reservation.
From overseas you may phone 0044 7000 924466 during the daytime please!
The Waggon & Horses is a 'Free House' owned by Mike and George Shiffner and is renowned as a 'Real Ale' pub. This is because the beers are selected as cask conditioned ales from Greene King, local breweries and other parts of the UK. These beers are not your gassy pasteurised homogenised offerings passed off as beer in less discerning establishments. The Waggon & Horses is listed in the CAMRA (Campaign for Real Ale) Guide as a CAMRA approved house and is featured once more in the Good Beer Guide 2002 published by the Campaign for Real Ale Limited.

Here is a pint of Greene King IPA.
This is a cask conditioned 'real ale' as beloved by regulars at The Waggon & Horses.
This will bring back memories for our Kiwi friends, Tokyo Ted and Houston Sam who are gagging for it, and can't wait to get back to The Waggon for a decent pint.
CHEERS!

Pictured happy regulars of the Waggon and Horses, Great Yeldham celebrating the long awaited arrival of Strongbow cider (the choice of the connoisseur). Landlord Mike Shiffner (pictured left) said "The timing of this promotion was critical."
The Strongbow mountain bike was won in a competition run by Mike to the regular that could consume the most pints of Strongbow in a day.
Winner Dennis Avery said "I would normally have puked up if Mike was still selling dry Blackthorn!"
Have you seen this extortionate invoice from Bernie???
"On sultry nights in Tokyo I sometimes visit the Waggon website and let myself be drawn to the Waggon bar page, and allow my eyes to linger on the pint of IPA so realistically depicted there.
And if the thirst becomes unbearable, I sometimes go out for a beer, but faking it by drinking the one and thinking of the other.
Mercifully, occasional visits to the U.K. and Great Yeldham eliminate the need for pretense.
With the real stuff in my grasp, the pleasure is genuine; bliss in a pint mug!
Cheers Mike and George!!!"
